As an art teacher I believe that is important for me to continue to engage in the artistic process. Continuing to create my own art helps me relate to all that my students go through in the art-making process. I ask my students to challenge themselves, to understand and synthesize information, to engage in their work and persist through challenges. I ask my students to reflect on what they've leaned and accomplished and apply that knowledge. By continuing to make my own artwork I am able to engage with the same challenges and it helps me to accurately plan through each assignment so that students have great resources and support.
Below are some examples of artwork I have created in recent years. In my own art-making I primarily work with paint but love to explore other materials. I have created an artist website, which showcases all of my work and gives details on both the product and process of many of the pieces included.
